As a new component of the Fundamental Concepts of Knowledge Media Design course, the Institute's Collaborative Program is hosting a series of public panels. These sessions bring in guests from several different disciplines and institutions. The topics include evolving concepts of communities of practice, knowledge representation, and knowledge mobilization. The sessions also serve as a specific context for exploring KMD methodologies based on principles underlying sense-making, design process, digital networks and data architectures. Beyond students and faculty, KMD partners from the community outside the university are invited to these events. The goal is to give students a variety of perspectives on practice, introduce them to future colleagues, and showcase the ideas that come out of KMDI to prospective research and funding partners and students.
A new public lecture series as well as research and development goals will be announced in early 2011.
