TPDL 2012 Call for Workshop Proposals
16th International Conference on the Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries (TPDL 2012)
Cyprus, 23-27 September 2012
http://www.tpdl2012.org/index.php
TPDL 2012 is the 16th edition of the International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries (formerly the European Conference on Digital Libraries - ECDL). It will take place in Pafos, Cyprus on 23-27 September 2012, and will be organized by Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) in collaboration with University of Cyprus and City University London.
TPDL 2012 will devote one and a half days to workshops, which will take place on September 26 (afternoon) and 27 (all day), right after the main conference has ended. We invite proposals for workshops that provide a context for the presentation and discussion of novel ideas, emerging trends, issues and challenges in a focused and interactive manner. The topics can cover any areas related to digital libraries, including cross-disciplinary areas. The workshops will offer a common forum to engage and encourage researchers to present and discuss their work, obtain valuable feedback in an informal, supportive, and friendly environment. The workshops will aim to produce valuable outcomes, e.g., online workshop proceedings, post-workshop publications, online groups or resources, white papers, and so on. The selection process will give priority to workshops
with novelty, focus, and an explicitly formulated target outcome.
Each workshop should have at least 6 paper presentations and preferably no more than 10-12. Workshops are intended to be genuine interactive events and not mini-conferences. We welcome workshops with a creative structure and organization, that may thus attract diverse types of contributions and ensure rich interaction.
Workshop proposers will be responsible for forming a program committee,
publicizing the workshop, preparing and distributing a call for papers,
having submissions reviewed, selecting the papers to be presented at the
workshop, and possibly generating the proceedings.
****
By submitting a workshop proposal all the proponents of the workshop commit, if the workshop is accepted, to physically attend the workshop.
Workshops will also be advertised through the TPDL 2012 website and mailing list. A workshop proposal should be 2 to 3 pages in length and include the following information:
* Title of the workshop;
* A description of the topic of the workshop plus a short description on how the workshop will be advertised so as to ensure a sufficiently wide range of submissions and participants;
* A description of the format/structure of the workshop (half or full day) including any relevant information, such as list
of invited speakers (if any), programme committee, planned deadlines for call for papers, type of reviewing, and any
organisational aspect;
* Motivation and objectives/goals of the workshop, stating how it will contribute to the field of Digital Libraries;
* Expected outcomes and intended audience;
* (If the workshop is related or follows on from another workshop) A short description of previous events and an explanation of the additional motivations, benefit, and expected achievements that support the proposal;
* Expected number of participants;
* Name, affiliation, and e-mail address of the proposer(s);
* A brief CV of the proposer(s), explaining their qualifications;
* Names of at least three people who have accepted to join the PC.
All proposals will be reviewed by the TPDL 2012 Workshops Committee.
