The partners working with KMDI are an important part of reaching the institute's research and outreach mandates beyond its home campus. Partners provide an opportunity for collaborations across the wider community and equally, partners are able to make new connections expanding their own networks. They support the success and communication of new research initiatives by giving researchers and students means to share ideas, educate, learn and engage.
- Interactive Ontario (IO) is a not-for-profit industry trade organization committed to the growth of the Ontario interactive digital content industry. To this end IO is an industry advocate within Ontario and nationally as a founding member of the Canadian Interactive Alliance /Alliance interactive canadienne (CIAIC).
- University of Western Ontario - Laboratory for Humanistic Fabrication Professor William J. Turkel has a new research program exploring ways to build historical interpretations into physical devices and environments. This work is backward looking, in the sense that it engages with the histories of measurement, materials science and machine tools. It is also very present-minded as it is being approached as a form of critical technical practice, building on new developments in ubiquitous / pervasive computing and desktop fabrication.
- Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) - The Mobile Experience Innovation Centre is a public-private consortium engaging leaders in mobile research, design and innovation. Funded by the OMDC through the Entertainment and Creative Clusters Partnerships Fund, the MEIC includes 6 academic institutions and over 30 organizations from across the mobile industry, and is led by the Ontario College of Art & Design.
